Keywords: Colorectal Cancer; Screening Program; Length Of Stay In Hospital; Surgery; Mortality And Morbidity
Abstract: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a devastating disease that impacts patients' quality of life, accounting for 1.8 million new cases annually worldwide. Our study aims to evaluate the clinical outcomes of early detection of CRC. Based on the research methodology, clinical data were collected from 83 colorectal cancer patients, aged 40–70 years, who were registered from the medical records of hospitals in Baghdad, Iraq, during the follow-up period between March and December of 2024. The results of screening programs for early detection of CRC were determined, as were complications associated with the patients, surgical outcomes, and quality of life. In addition, the current study indicated that 166 colorectal cancer patients participated in the study, which was noted that 64 were males, while 102 were females. It was noted that 64 cases were located in the colon, while 19 were in the rectum, as well as 7.23% of deaths and complications at a rate of 33.73%, and also the symptom rate was 2.01 ± 0.28, as their quality of life improved, which indicates that in most cases there was a significant decrease in the rate and the rate of complications after surgery.
