Gamification of Human-AI Training for Dynamic SDN-Controlled Network Management: A Novel Collaborative Framework

Abstract: The integration of Software-Defined Networking and artificial intelligence presents significant opportunities for enhancing network management while creating challenges in human-AI collaboration. This article introduces a novel multi-layer gamification framework designed to facilitate effective training for collaborative teams managing SDN-controlled environments. Three interconnected tiers make up the suggested architecture: an infrastructure layer that offers virtualized network environments; a mechanics layer that incorporates gamification elements tailored for network management scenarios; and a collaboration layer that creates structured protocols for interactions between AI systems and human operators. Through controlled experimental scenarios, the framework simulates authentic network management challenges while collecting detailed performance metrics across multiple dimensions. Empirical evaluation demonstrates significant improvements in incident resolution times, policy compliance, and appropriate task allocation between human operators and AI systems compared to traditional training approaches. The gamification elements most strongly correlated with performance improvements include progressive difficulty scaling and transparent AI decision explanations. This domain-specific approach addresses the critical gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in next-generation infrastructure while enhancing the collaborative intelligence necessary for resilient network operations in increasingly complex digital environments.
