Leveraging Identity and Access Management to Enhance Compliance Audits and Reduce Costs in Healthcare Environments

Abstract: Healthcare organizations face significant operational and financial pressures to maintain compliance with complex regulatory requirements. Fragmented audit processes and siloed access control records result in redundancy, increased labor, and elevated risk of noncompliance. This article proposes an integrated approach leveraging Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems combined with audit trail records across clinical, billing, and administrative domains. The proposed framework provides automated validation of user access against role-based permissions, creating a continuous, unified security posture dashboard. This integration streamlines compliance auditing, reduces manual workload, and enhances real-time visibility into access authorization, offering potential to lower audit-related expenditures significantly.
