Accelerating Legacy System Modernization through AI-Enhanced Precision and Efficiency

Abstract: This in-depth article explains the ways artificial intelligence technologies are transforming the modernization processes of legacy systems in industries. The article outlines the complexities that organizations encounter with obsolete systems, such as drain of resources, challenges in transferring knowledge, and vulnerabilities to security, before proposing an AI-enabled modernisation framework as a revolutionary step. This framework uses transfer learning and neural networks to automate the process of transformation of the code and retain the important business logic, create full test suites, perform security scanning, create documentation, and make it deployment-ready. The advantages that this strategy can bring to organizations are discussed, such as shorter modernization cycles, minimized technical debt, improved security posture, improved developer productivity, and greater potential to innovate. The article ends by considering the new capabilities in the AI-enhanced modernization, how these technologies will continue to be developed to offer more advanced and valuable support on the entire software development lifecycle, which essentially alters the manner in which organizations will manage technical debt and system evolution.
