Blockchain Technology as a Paradigm for Enhanced API Security: A Systematic Analysis

Keywords: Blockchain security, API protection, decentralized access control, self-sovereign identity, smart contract automation.

Abstract: This article examines the integration of blockchain technology with the application programming interface (API) as a novel safety paradigm. Through the discovery of decentralized architecture, the discussion highlights the underlying properties of blockchain - incompatibility, transparency, and cryptographic verification - and how frequent API security challenges are detected. The analysis focuses on four major domains: a decentralized access control structure that eliminates single points of failure, an identity verification system that reduces credential-based attacks, secure data transmission systems that ensure information integrity, and automated policy enforcement through smart contracts. Accepting the implementation complications, the article shows the transforming capacity of blockchain in distributing trust on the network rather than focusing it within the weak centralized systems, which fundamentally reshapes the API security scenario, fundamentally again shaped for modern interconnected digital ecosystems.
